Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon

I LOVED and Survived my first Marathon! 26.2 Miles - Check! About the Marathon Weekend...

I drove up to Cincinnati with my mom and brother (best support team ever) on Saturday morning. During the day we had to pick up my Marathon Registration packet - there was a huge Expo with vendors at Registration where you could pick up lots of running stuff and there was a ton to see and do. Then and we enjoyed a delicious pasta dinner.

Saturday Morning at 6:30AM the race started - so my mom and I walked from our hotel to the starting line at 5:30AM. It was POURING rain! There was thunder and lightening at the beginning, but that didn't stop thousands of people from running the race.

So soaking wet - with thousands of other runners, we began! There were 20,000 people who took part of the entire race weekend, and 5,000 people who just ran the Marathon...there were so many people that I didn't cross the starting line until 3 minutes after the official start.

It was such a fun marathon - there were tons of bystanders and many of them dressed in PINK and pig costumes. Thank God for the enthusiastic cheering that kept us going and the volunteers who passed out Gatorade at every mile.
Running the marathon was truly a great experience and huge life accomplishment! I was so glad that I decided to run the marathon for Girls on the Run too - because every time my legs started to hurt I would think about the energetic young girls in the program and everyone who donated.

I met my goal of running the entire race - and finished with a 9 minute 27 second pace at 4 hours 2 minutes and 59 seconds! 4:02:59!

I can't wait until the next marathon! Who's with me?
